Privacy Policy

Spot Check ("we", "our", or "us") is a browser extension operated by Total Audio Promo Ltd. This policy explains what data the extension touches, where it lives, and what we do with it. We have written it to be accurate rather than legally exhaustive.

What the extension stores on your device

The following is held in your browser's extension storage on your own machine and is never sent to our servers unless explicitly noted below:

• Your playlist validation history and cached results
• Free-tier usage counters (to enforce daily check limits locally)
• Your preferences and settings
• The list of playlists you have chosen to track

You can clear all local data at any time via the extension's settings panel or by removing the extension.

What leaves your device

Spotify

When the extension runs on a Spotify playlist page or looks up a playlist, it requests public playlist metadata (name, curator, follower count, track list) from Spotify's Web API. No data about your personal Spotify account, library, listening history, or private playlists is accessed.

Spot Check backend (only if you sign in)

If you create a Spot Check account or upgrade to a paid plan, the following is sent to and stored by our servers so the service can function:

• Email address, used as your account identifier
• Subscription status (plan tier, renewal date)
• Premium validation results and tracked-playlist data that you have explicitly asked us to sync across devices
• Authentication tokens issued to your signed-in session

If you do not sign in, nothing leaves your device other than the Spotify API requests above.

Background refreshes (alarms permission)

When you track a playlist, the extension schedules periodic background refreshes using the Chrome alarms API so the metrics for that specific playlist stay current. These refreshes only fetch data for playlists you have explicitly chosen to track. The extension does not browse, read, or interact with any other pages in the background.

Payments

Paid subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Card numbers, CVCs, and billing addresses go directly to Stripe and are never stored on Spot Check servers. We only receive a customer token and subscription status from Stripe.

How we use your data

• To provide the validation service (local) and, if you sign in, to sync premium features across devices
• To verify your subscription status when you open the extension
• To respond to support enquiries you send us
• To diagnose errors via aggregated, non-identifying logs (e.g. API error rates)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not transfer it to third parties beyond the sub-processors named above.

Retention

Locally stored data persists until you clear it or uninstall the extension. Server-side account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after cancellation, after which it is deleted. Aggregated error logs are kept for up to 30 days.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to:

• Access a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time by signing out and uninstalling the extension
• Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

Cookies

The extension itself does not use cookies. The spotcheck.cc website uses only essential cookies required for sign-in sessions.

Children

Spot Check is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we will update the "Last updated" date and, for signed-in users, send an email notice before the change takes effect.
